the office

it's been one helluva week...early this week, i had my evals discussion with our boss. I was pretty anxious about it coz I know i screwed up one high profile change request, and with previous experience from company A, I am somewhat assuming that THAT will ruin everything else that I have worked for. Surprisingly though, they're not like that here. my boss was objective about it and even told me that it's not my fault that the impact analysis of the said object has been underestimated. still, i think my fault there is that I didn't escalate it early on which caused much further delay. Anyways, that's not everything that we discussed. I made sure I let him know that I want to focus more on doing ABAP-HR and maybe later on move to functional. Another good thing about my boss is that he listens - he actually planned to put me in the FI/CO team with the recent reshuffling of resources but decided to put me in the CS/HR/BC team after what I said. And yesterday, I got a word from our new team lead that starting next week, I'll be focusing on doing HR stuff! woohoo! Finally, I see immediate results from these kinds of discussion when I almost believed that these sessions were just the higher-ups' way of promising things they can't actually give you just to keep you. Well there's one thing - the promotion. I'm not sure whether I'll get the promotion this year or not, but he said he's pushing for it. Well, let's see. If all goes well, I guess I'll be staying here a little longer than I planned.

Just when I thought everything is going pretty smoothly, a colleague who's assigned in brazil messaged me last night that there have been rumors going around about me that I'll be promoted to Sr. IC and one consultant was asking why I would be promoted to senior when there are consultants who have more experience than me but are still in IC level. It kinda pissed me off coz I'm not used to these kinds of rumors in the office. I mean come on, don't they have anything productive to do that they have to pry on somebody else's business? The thing is, it's not even half the truth! I'm not even sure yet if I'll get promoted! Did they actually think that it's possible to skip one level especially for someone who has not even spent a year in the company? These people are just impossible! :s

Oh well, whatever floats their boat! As for me, I'm just happy with how things are going right now and I just have to wait for that promised promotion! :)
